As an internationally experienced Human Resource Executive, I live out my roles as a Connector, Enabler and Supporter of individuals and teams in multicultural work settings.
Motivating people and helping them to develop their full potential is my ultimate goal. My greatest reward is when we live out diversity in the team, achieving our goals with happiness and joy, and celebrating successes together. Be it in leadership, training or coaching – I create an environment shaped by authenticity, appreciation and respectful interaction. In a positive atmosphere where everyone feels they are seen, personal views, perspectives and personalities are afforded space to develop and unfold.
I serve as a role model by boosting my own strengths, sharing them with others and encouraging them to activate their own resources so they can learn and grow with me.
The experience I gained and the values I came to respect as part of a multicultural community working in Walt Disney’s “Magic Worlds” the year after I graduated from high school continue to shape me today. We had arrived in Florida from all over the world. At first, we were all alone, trying to fend for ourselves. But from then on, living and working in internationally mixed teams, achieving goals together and enjoying shared success, I developed a completely new outlook on life. For me, the inspiring sense of community – combined with the power of positive thought – remains a source of happiness and joy, tolerance and openness. Having arrived in a world where I felt comfortable and free, I started telling stories. I transported my listeners to other worlds, looking around at their sparkling eyes as my stories progressed. It was then that I realised the energy that can be generated in getting close to other people, telling stories, listening, and creating a sense of belonging.
That the world has a lot to offer if I only have the courage to look beyond the horizon, let go and follow my dreams. This is the positive, confident mindset that has chartered my course in the world of work ever since.
As an experienced Senior HR Manager, I draw from my curiosity about people, cultures and relationship systems, and from my passion for travel. I feel tremendously fortunate to have been able to learn, grow and work with more than 500,000 employees in a collaborative environment at the globally successful Deutsche Post DHL for almost 25 years. In my areas of responsibility in a company that is certified as a “Great Place to Work®”, I can take on roles that reflect my personal passions, topics and values – all of which come down to Connecting People. Improving Lives. This is something for which I’m truly grateful.
Being nominated by my Indian HR partner teams to speak on the topic of Organisational Transformation@DHL at the Global HR Conference in Mumbai in 2017 was one of the highlights of my international career. I perceived the Global HR Excellence Award I received there as special recognition for the work I’ve done over the years.
Creating and living out global social connections
By establishing and personally cultivating networks and partnerships, I connect both individuals and teams to enable constructive, open-minded collaboration. Cross-country and cross-culture. Cross-division and cross-sector. Cross-role and cross-topic. With this approach, I create sustainable social connections and platforms that enable strategies and goals to be developed and implemented jointly in open and trusting dialogue with diverse teams. This occurs first and foremost with a sense of joy and fun in our joint work and successes.
Implementing international topics on a national scale
I support my business partners, stakeholders and various HR teams, providing pragmatic solutions to help them achieve their business goals. Working with my teams, I’m committed to adapting the global or centralized programs and processes developed in line with the corporate strategy to fit the respective country’s conditions and cultures in a way that fosters their acceptance and makes them applicable to local needs. Using target group-focused communication, we involve local managers and HR teams in strategically relevant topics, providing them with hands-on support – and also training and coaching – in the creation of implementation plans and solutions to ensure sustainable execution and experience of the strategy while taking account of the situation on site.
Developing potential, activating resources, gaining strength from lifelong learning
My business partners perceive me as a trustworthy, value-oriented sparring partner with an open, positive mindset who delivers excellence in the form of reliability, a solution-centric approach and the creation and use of networks. As a modern, witty, entertaining leader, I’m at my best when spreading enthusiasm, inspiration and positive energy – and when helping my employees, partners and stakeholders to use their own strengths and resources to discover and exploreenjoyable, successful, fulfilling paths for themselves. My defining values are being and remaining strong by engaging in lifelong learning, showing and taking initiative, and activating the resources we have at hand.
I’ve been on the board of the German-South African Youth Association (DSJW e.V.) for the past 25 years. Since its foundation, we’ve placed and assisted over 1,000 young volunteers in social projects in South Africa. In 2016, I took a two-month sabbatical from my management position and made on-site visits to our volunteer projects with my then 14-year-old son. During my absence, my team independently ensured the smooth management of business operations and with no drop in output.
